Twitter recently announced in its latest transparency report that from August 2015 to December 2017, it had taken down 1.2 million accounts linked with terrorism.

The company said that internal, proprietary tools were used to suspend 93% of said accounts, with 74% suspended even before posting their first tweet. Only around 0.2% of the figure were suspended as a result of governments filing reports with the company.

Twitter also revealed that the number of accounts suspended for terrorist content had gone down by as much as 8% at the last count in September.
