ISP’s in Australia have been ordered by the country’s federal court to take down popular pirate sites such as EZTV, YTS, Demonoid, RARBG, 1337x and Putlocker.

In addition to the numerous other pirate sites blocked in the continent, around 160 more have been blocked via two orders, which came at the request of film studio Village Roadshow and broadcaster Foxtel.

Piracy had been a significant problem in Australia in the past. One notable case involved US film Dallas Buyers Club where 4,726 unique IP addresses were found to have downloaded the film over peer-to-peer network BitTorrent. In 2016, the Hollywood studio behind the film decided not to pursue.

In 2014, Attorney General George Brandis said that Australia is the worst country in the world for piracy.
