London mayor Sadiq Khan announced this week a tap-to-donate payment system used by street performers in the city which is said to be the first of its kind in the world.

The contactless payment scheme was developed in partnership with Swedish tech firm iZettle, which is now part of US payments giant PayPal.

A number of full-time buskers who had participated in the two week trial said that they payment system had a significant impact on their income.
