Reddit co-founder Steve Huffman recently revealed that it had removed “a few hundred accounts” suspected of being of Russian origin after media website the Daily Beast said that it had received information on the activities of the Internet Research Agency on the site.

The IRA, a known Russian “troll farm”, had apparently gamed Reddit to amplify its propaganda posts. However, Huffman added that the biggest problem is that it is fairly more complex to spot and stop indirect propaganda.

The Daily Beast said that Russia probably sought to provoke and divide US citizens on issues, rather than to support any particular candidate or viewpoint.
