Last Thursday, WikiLeaks published the source code for Hive, a toolkit which allows an attacker to control malware on a host computer.

The Hive release is the first in a series of releases called Vault 8. The series will reveal source codes for “cyber-weapons” mentioned in the previous series called Vault 7 which was released from March to August of this year.

Hive by itself cannot be used to compromise systems and thus does not pose an immediate danger to end users. However, it can be used to set up an infrastructure for the deployment of other threats such as malware.
