Abibaba Co-Founder Says US Trying to Prevent China from Upgrading Tech

At the recently held Recode Code Conference, Alibaba co-founder Joe Tsai remarked that Americans do not want China to upgrade its technology. It is said that Tsai said this in response to Senator Mark Warner’s comment at the same conference that Chinese tech firms had been “penetrated deeply” by the Chinese Communist Party.

The Alibaba executive VP further clarified that the “Communist party” may seem to be a dirty word to Americans, but in China, it merely refers to the form of government.

Despite this, Tsai said that Alibaba will still continue to focus on helping American farmers and small businesses tap into the huge Chinese consumer market, especially now that the demand of the country’s middle class to better goods and services, including many imported products, is rapidly rising.
