Advocacy Group Calls Out Australia for “Willingness” to Undermine Human Rights
0 comments
An advocacy group called AccessNow criticized Australia this week for failing to focus on human rights in the changing landscape of the digital era.
The group said that the country can either be a testing ground for policies that undermine privacy and security in the digital era, or a champion for human rights in the digital age, using its global relationships to raise the standards for the next generation.
AccessNow called on the government to end the government’s pursuit of laws that undermine encryption or force developers to put modifications that give law enforcement exclusive access to private data.
