Alphabet Boasts AI-Powered Breast Cancer Detection Capabilities

At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Alphabet CFO Ruth Porat recently announced that they have achieved a breakthrough in using artificial intelligence to detect breast cancer.

Porat said that the firm was able to create an AI agent that is able to “correctly distinguish a slide with metastatic cancer from a slide without cancer 99% of the time” using less data.

Porat added that using the technology, they only needed hundreds of biopsies from breast cancer patients in order to have a breakthrough which could also be used in repetitive diagnostic procedures, so that doctors can focus more on difficult tasks.
