According to a new study by the Pew Research Center, Americans now prefer to get their news from social media instead of newspapers.
Around 20 percent of 3,425 respondents said they get their news from social media while only 16 said they often turn to newspapers.
While TV remains as the top source for news, at 49 percent, this number has seen a 57 percent decline from 2016.
Among younger audiences in between 18-29, social media is still the most popular way to get the news, with 36 percent saying they “often” get news that way, as opposed to people over 50 who say that they preferred TV for news by a wide margin over all other media.
