APAC Organizations Look to Edge Computing, Worries Over Data Security

Companies in the APAC region are reportedly exploring edge computing to cut costs and improve response times, but have expressed their concerns on security and latency issues when such platforms process large volumes of data.

Taoyuan City Government’s Public Works Department said that applications and services such as those used in the field of citizen intelligence need an almost immediate response time and cannot use use centralized cloud processing which takes time to transmit data.

However, edge computing firms such as HPE says that they have designed their products to withstand various external factors that may affect performance and added that concerns such as those raised by the Taoyuan City government will only need closer monitoring.
