Apple Ordered to Allow Third-Party Payment Options

The outcome of the trial between Apple and Fortnite-maker Epic Games has come to the conclusion that Apple cannot stop developers from directing users to third-party payment options. In a win for developers, Judge Yvonne Gonzales-Rogers ruled that developers may inform consumers that there are cheaper purchase options away from the App Store. On the other hand, Judge Gonzales-Rogers also ruled for Apple stating that Epic Games failed to prove that Apple violated antitrust laws. She stated that its high profit margins do not prove that it was an illegal monopoly.
