Bigger Problems Than Anti-Encryption Laws, Telstra Security Chief Says

In a recent interview, Telstra’s security head Jacqueline McNamara said that instant access to data on the ownership of IP addresses via organizations like the ICANN, and faster collaboration with law enforcement agencies and other authorities should be prioritized over Australia’s Assistance and Access Bill.

McNamara however added that ICANN data may be abused more if the need for warrants is removed. She said that tracking the users accessing the data, then going after them only if they are caught engaging in illegal activities, is better than holding the process up in the front end by forcing warrants.
