Bipartisan Bill to Prevent Export of US Chips to Huawei, ZTE

US Sen. Tom Cotton and Rep. Mike Gallagher, alongside Sen. Chris Van Hollen and Rep. Ruben Gallego, introduced a bill this week which seeks to ban the sale of US technology to Huawei and ZTE.
The bipartisan bill will enforce denial orders on “covered telecommunications companies” which include ZTE and Huawei, that are found to have violated US export control or sanction laws.
Van Hollen said that Huawei and ZTE are just two sides of the same coin, as both have repeatedly violated US laws and posed a significant risk to US national security interests, and they will need to be held accountable.
