Brazil’s new minister of science and technology, Marcos Pontes, officially assumed his post this week. The astronaut, pilot and engineer vowed to focus on cybersecurity and artificial intelligence and review areas such as Internet of Things and broadband coverage in his tenure.
Pontes also said in a recent press conference that he also intends to work closer with other government departments in technologies that are considered strategic, such as space and nuclear energy.
The minister also mentioned that IoT policies, which was included in a decree that was ignored by former president Michel Temer, will now be addressed in a roster of decisions to be analyzed by the new team.
