BSP and PDIC Update Bank Examination Agreement
On October 17, 2025, officials from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) signed a revised Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on Bank Examination at the BSP Head Office. The updated agreement aims to improve coordination between the two agencies when conducting bank examinations.
The revised MOA clarifies the roles of each institution: the BSP focuses on credit, market, and operational risks, while the PDIC concentrates on deposit-related risks. It also prevents duplication of efforts, establishes a data-sharing framework, and aligns with the amended charters of both agencies.
The agreement outlines joint examination activities, including planning and scheduling inspections, conducting examinations, writing reports, issuing directives, and monitoring compliance. It also strengthens information sharing between the BSP and PDIC while maintaining confidentiality.
This is the second amendment to the original 2005 agreement and reflects ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of bank supervision.
