Cambridge Analytica Closes, Re-emerges as Emerdata
Earlier this week, embattled UK analytics firm Cambridge Analytica announced that it had shut down its operations and liquidated its business. However, the closure appears to be short-lived as it was revealed that the move was just an excuse for the company to re-brand.
According to records at the UK’s official registrar of businesses and organizations, Companies House, there is an active company called Emerdata at the same offices as SCL Elections which is run by the same management and investors as Cambridge Analytica.
Founded in 2017, the firm describes itself as a “data processing, hosting and related activities” organization. It was further revealed that its directors, Jennifer and Rebekah Mercer, are the daughters of billionaire Robert Mercer who funded Cambridge Analytica.
