China Calls Out Apple, Amazon for Incorrectly Referencing Hong Kong, Taiwan

In its report published this month, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) said that 66 of the world’s 500 biggest companies used “incorrect labels” for Taiwan and 53 for Hong Kong.

As reported in China’s Legal Daily newspaper, 45 in total had referred to both territories incorrectly.

It was noted that last year, China began to increase pressure on foreign companies such as Marriott International and Qantas for referring to Taiwan and Hong Kong as separate territories from China in drop down menus or other material.
