Chinese internet giant Tencent recently partnered with London-based medical firm Medopad to improve the diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease using artificial intelligence.
Dr Wei Fan of Tencent Medical AI lab explains that the system works by capturing the movement of the patient’s hands by camera then feeding it to the AI for analysis. Medopad says that the system may be able to assess a patient’s condition within three minutes without having to wear sensors or even going to the hospital at all.
Wei Fan also revealed that the project will be open and transparent to everyone, despite the heated AI race between the US and China.
