Cryptopia Hit by Breach, Taken Offline
Popular New Zealand cryptocurrency exchange Cryptopia has been taken offline this week due to a breach which resulted in significant losses.
Cryptopia reported to the police that unauthorized transaction activity had taken place at the exchange. Likewise, Whale Security said that the transactions took place over the weekend, with the first transaction involving 48,029,306 Centrality (CENNZ) tokens being transferred to an unknown address, alongside 19,391 Ethereum (ETH), worth $2.4 million.
The exchange announced that it is suspending trading until further notice.
