DICT, Google Philippines to Provide ICT Training Courses
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) partnered with Google Philippines to look into the possibility of providing ICT training courses for Filipinos.
Through the ICT Literacy and Competency Development Bureau (ILCDB), the DICT aims to address the technological challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. With many Filipinos having lost their jobs or finding it difficult to keep up with the demands of the job market in the new normal, the ICT trainings are targeted to help upskill and reskill them. The courses are also expected to create more employment opportunities.
Even those with limited financial resources can participate in this initiative. The DICT-Google Philippines partnership is set to provide a scholarship system with a criteria-based candidate selection process.
Google is set to offer four (4) courses on IT Support, User Experience (UX) Design, Data Analytics, and Project Management, with each one focused on developing a particular set of ICT skills.
