Drug Cartels Found Using Fully Encrypted Blackberry Phones
The Department of Justice arrested in Seattle last week the CEO of a company that makes highly-secure Blackberry devices for drug organizations such as the Sinaloa Cartel.
Vincent Ramos, CEO of Canadian-based Phantom Secure, was indicted with four others for knowingly making encrypted mobile phones for criminals. Ramos and his associates were sentenced with life imprisonment for racketeering and conspiracy to aid the distribution of drugs.
According to investigators, Blackberry has yet to give a comment on the matter, and it is not sure if the firm had cooperated with them on the case.
