EU to Investigate Misuse of Facebook Data
Last Monday, the head of the European said that it will be conducting a probe into the alleged misuse of over 50 million Facebook users data.
Antonio Tajani blasted the social network on Twitter and said that the allegations were an unacceptable violation of citizens’ privacy rights and the company needed to take more responsibility.
A data analytics company linked to President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign, Cambridge Analytica, was found to have collected the private information of users from Facebook and used it without getting prior consent. However, executives of the tech giant are still said to be wrangling over the semantics of whether the incident constitutes a “breach” or not.
