EU Watchdog Orders Privacy Changes from Yahoo After Data Breach

Ireland’s Data Protection Commissioner recently ordered Yahoo to change its privacy measures in accordance to EU law after completing an investigation into what is considered to be one of the largest ever data breaches in the EU.

The Irish DPC told Yahoo to ensure that all its data protection policies take account of the applicable data protection law, and are reviewed and updated at defined regular intervals, as well as update its data processing contracts and procedures associated with such contracts to be compliant with EU laws.

Yahoo’s breach is estimated to have affected around 39 million Europeans.
