Facebook Bans Ads from Startup Offering Competing Service
Facebook had reportedly banned the ad of a startup offering a service similar to its Facebook Login identity service.
Jesse Leimgruber, co-founder of online identity management service company Bloom, said that Facebook banned their ads as a part of a crackdown on deceptive financial products and services related to cryptocurrency. However, Leimgruber explained that while they use blockchain technology, they not sell any financial products or services and has nothing to do with cryptocurrency.
Leimgruber also said that the ban was particularly suspicious since they had been advertising throughout Facebook’s ban, but they were only banned now perhaps because their service will compete with Facebook’s identity management platform, formerly known as Facebook Connect.
