Facebook Forms Special AI Ethics Team
Facebook revealed at its recently held F8 conference that it has created a special ethics team tasked to ensure that the company’s artificial intelligence systems will be able to make decisions with as little bias as possible.
It was also Isabel Kloumann, a research scientist at Facebook that led the development of FBLearner Flow software, will be on the team. Kloumann says that they have already made a bunch of collaborations with teams within the company and organizations including Better Business Bureau’s Institute for Marketplace Trust and the Brookings Institution.
It has been said that the move had been prompted by pressure on the social network to prove that their algorithms are being deployed responsibly, but Facebook said that it was not related to the recent issues surrounding the company and Cambridge Analytica.
