German Officials Urge Gov’t to Exclude Huawei from 5G Bid

Senior German officials are reportedly urging their government to exclude Chinese companies such as Huawei from building the country’s 5G infrastructure, saying that it could pose a threat to national security.

One official was quoted saying “There is serious concern. If it were up to me we would do what the Australians are doing,”.

However, it is unsure as to whether the last ditch effort against Chinese suppliers would succeed. Opposition parties have also pushed back, with the Greens submitting a motion in parliament saying that the government has no legal basis for excluding certain suppliers from its 5G rollout.
