At the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) held last week in Shanghai, Google head of machine perception research Jay Yagnik said that it was key for Google to partner with China and its AI talent ecosystem and revealed that the company’s open-source machine learning software tool TensorFlow had already achieved two million downloads by developers in the country.

Despite escalating trade tensions between the US and China, Google is seen to be ramping up its efforts to engage the world’s second largest economy. Yagnik also revealed that the company is hosting its biggest tech exhibition in China in recent years, and called on the global community to come together in support of education, research, and adoption of the technology.
