Google to Cut News Services Due to New EU Rules
0 comments
Google recently said that it will be forced not to show a range of news on its search engine once EU’s new copyright rules comes into effect.
The new legislation being proposed by the European Parliament will compel tech firms such as Google to compensate publishers of content such as news and music. The new rules are being backed by a number of groups representing content creators in the region.
Singling out Article 11 of the copyright law, Google said that it would likely only benefit bigger publishers as it will restrict the flow of traffic to smaller ones, making it harder for them to find an audience and generate income.
