Google Wants Supreme Court to Drop Oracle Copyright Case

Google’s parent company, Alphabet, sought this week from the US Supreme Court a reversal of a decision on its billion-dollar copyright case involving Oracle Corp.
A decision in 2016 clearing Google for copying Oracle’s Java programming language to create the Android operating system was reversed by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in 2018. Now Google wants the high court to reverse the decision, saying that the Federal Circuit’s ruling in favor of Oracle was a “devastating one-two punch at the software industry” that would chill innovation.
