Huawei Chairman Warns of Shift Away from Western Countries
Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Huawei chairman Liang Hua said that his company is likely to shift to countries that welcome them and transfer their technology there.
The Chinese tech giant is a world leader in telecoms infrastructure, including next-gen 5G networks. However, US allies such as the UK, Australia, and recently Germany have raised concerns that the company’s equipment may be used by the Chinese government to conduct espionage.
Despite the recent statement, the company assured that it remains committed to its £3bn investment in the UK. Huawei also remarked that the UK is the market that advocates openness and also free trade, and it is up to the British public if they want to use the company’s technology.
