Hyundai recently announced that customers in China will be able to buy the latest-generation Santa Fe with a fingerprint scanner instead of traditional keys to activate the functions of the vehicle such as opening the doors or starting the engine.
Hyundai further revealed that drivers will also be able to adjust various settings such as seat position and side view mirrors to their preference and save the settings to the database using the SUV’s biometric sensors.
Other car manufacturers such as Volvo, BMW, GM are now also offering various “key alternatives” including key fobs, passcodes, smartphone apps, and near-field (NFC) or wireless technology.
