Instagram announced last Monday that two of its co-founders, Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, have resigned as chief executive officer and chief technical officer.

The Facebook-owned photo-sharing app gave little explanation as to why the execs chose to exit, but their resignation shortly follows that of WhatsApp’s Jan Koum. The two only said that they had been planning to take some time off to explore their curiosity and creativity, but it was said that they had frequent clashes with Zuckerberg on the direction of Instagram.

Zuckerberg, on the other hand, said that Systrom and Krieger were “extraordinary product leaders”.
