Iran Accuses Twitter of Shutting Down Legit Accounts, Ignoring Anti-Gov’t Ones

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said last weekend that Twitter is removing accounts of real Iranians despite taking no action against US- backed anti-government ones.

Zarif called the attention of Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey in his tweet where he said that the company had removed the accounts of Iranian presenters and students as part of an influence op. The Iranian minister also challenged Twitter to remove ‘bots’ in Tirana used to spread Washington’s propaganda that called for a regime change.

The Iranian media had claimed that Israel, Saudi Arabia and the US exiled opposition groups were behind the social media campaigns seeking to overthrow the government.
