Kodak recently announced its foray into blockchain technology with the launch of the KodakCoin cryptocurrency.

According to the company, its “photo-centric” digital currency will help participating photographers get paid for licensing their work and to sell their work on the KodakOne platform.

Kodak CEO Jeff Clarke said that by using blockchain technology, they are able to provide photographers with a digital ledger of rights ownership where they can register and license their work. Clarke added that their platform should give photographers control over their intellectual property rights, and that the blockchain and cryptocurrency buzzwords were “the keys to solving what felt like an unsolvable problem”.
