Microsoft Fixes Bing After Generating “Racist” Results

Microsoft said this week that it has taken action regarding a problem affecting its Bing search engine which reportedly generated “horrifying” results for some search terms.

 

Journalist Chris Hoffman said that Bing pointed him to some racist websites, memes, and images when he used search terms such as “Jews”, “Muslims”, and “black people”. It is believed that the results were the product of user activity and efforts by the extreme right to manipulate search results.

 

Hoffman also reported that Bing gave him disgusting and disturbing images of young girls when he turned Bing’s safety filter off.
