National Privacy Commission Launches Data Breach Notification Management System
On April 20, 2022, the National Privacy Commission (NPC) launched the Data Breach Notification Management System (DBNMS).
The system adopts a user-friendly interface to increase public transparency with real time information on data breach notifications. The DBNMS also addresses the limitations in the old system of manual submissions and processing.
The system also simplifies the process for Personal Information Controllers (PICs) to submit Personal Data Breach Notifications and Annual Security Incident Reports. PICs can only have one account in the DBNMS, even with multiple branches or offices. If the PIC is affiliated with distinct entities and companies, each juridical person must register a separate account.
With the launch of the new system, the NPC will no longer accept submissions through email, personal filing, ordinary mail, licensed courier service, and any other modes of physical submission.
