New Documents Reveal Iran, Syria Links to Huawei

Corporate filings and other documents recently found by Reuters had reportedly showed Huawei’s links to a telcom equipment seller in Tehran called Skycom Tech, and shell company Canicula Holdings Ltd.

The documents showed that a high-level Huawei executive had been appointed as Skycom’s Iran manager, and at least three Chinese-named individuals had signing rights for both Huawei and Skycom bank accounts in Iran. It was also revealed by a Middle Eastern lawyer that Huawei had conducted operations in Syria through Canicula.

US investigators are saying that arrested Huawei exec Meng Wanzhou and other Huawei employees “repeatedly lied” about the company’s relationship with Skycom. The Chinese company also allegedly sold its shares in Skycom, but the shares were merely transferred to Canicula which was also controlled by Huawei.
