Troy Kent of Awake Security recently unveiled research which showed the feasibility of using cryptocurrency mining software for cyber attacks.
Presenting his study at the InfoSecurity North America Conference in New York, Kent said that crypto miners can be used to steal files, intellectual property, credentials, download more software, and bring down services.
Kent added that depending on the kind of detection that they are using, businesses are likely to miss miner attacks, deprioritize it, or dismiss it as only a miner.
