New Thai Political Party Gets in Hot Water Over Facebook Speech

The founder and two members of a new political party in Thailand opposed to military rule had been charged by the police for allegedly violating the Computer Crimes Act.

Auto parts billionaire Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, a political newcomer, and his colleagues in the Future Forward Party was said to have given false information in a June 29 speech posted on Facebook.

Thanatorn meanwhile said that he and his party members are rejecting the charges and accused the government of using the Act to silence and threaten them.
