Russian-Iran Troll Farm Tweets Made Public on Twitter

Around 10 million tweets posted by suspected “troll farms” in Russia and Iran had been shared online this week by Twitter.

The messages, which were posted in between 2013 to 2018, were said to include references to the US presidential election and the UK’s EU referendum. Twitter also published approximately 360GB of material to aid studies into how its platform has been used to try to sway public opinion. 4,750 accounts in total were reportedly involved.

It was said that the efforts of the two troll farms had the most pick-up within the US, but had much less influence on public debate elsewhere.
