Russian Telecoms Watchdog Asks Google, Apple to Remove Telegram from Stores

Russia’s state telecommunications regulator, Roskomnadzor, had reportedly requested US tech giants Google and Apple to remove the messaging app Telegram from their download stores.

Russia had officially banned the encrypted messaging service in the country after CEO Pavel Durov had refused to surrender private user data to the FSB.

Durov also announced a few days ago that Telegram may still work despite the ban, but not at 100% without a VPN.
