Security Expert Warns Next 9/11 will be a Cyber Attack

Speaking at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development’s (OECD) annual forum in Paris, cybersecurity executive Tarah Wheeler warned that it is just a matter of time before a cyberattack of devastating proportions happen.

The CEO of Red Queen Technologies also said that vital health and transport infrastructure are grossly under-protected at present. Wheeler’s sentiments were echoed by retired Admiral James Stavridis who said that a cyber Pearl Harbor was impending, and may hit the grid or the financial sector.

Wheeler also said that the solution would be to have a “sensible, deep, not broad, cybersecurity regulation that has teeth.” and urged the private sector to listen to the information security community, or hackers, instead of criminalizing their activity.
