South African Communications Authority to Hold Cybersecurity Hearings
The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) is scheduled to hold public hearings to discuss the submissions of the public on the authority’s role and responsibilities as cybersecurity regulator.
ICASA said that it received a total 13 submissions from stakeholders. The cyber authority said that the increase in internet connectivity and data services that resulted to a significant growth of disastrous cyber attack incidents often with disastrous consequences prompted the public discussion of the matter.
The discussion also seeks to benchmark the role cybersecurity regulators are playing and determine whether it is necessary for ICASA to adopt similar approaches.
