Spyware Company Leaves “Terabytes” of Sensitive Data Exposed

A security researcher said this week that surveillance software firm Spyfone had left terabytes of sensitive data exposed on a poorly-secured Amazon S3 bucket.

The company, which makes software that intercept data on a monitored device, left files such as selfies, text messages, audio recordings, contacts, location, hashed passwords and logins, Facebook messages completely unprotected online.

A Spyfone representative assured that they are currently investigating the leak and confirmed that around 2,200 of their customers may have been affected.
