President Rodrigo Duterte formally signed into law Republic Act No. 11551 or the Labor Education Act on May 27, 2021. This law incorporates “labor education” in the curricula of all public and private higher education institutions and technical and vocational institutions across the country. This enactment is another step towards carrying out the State’s declaration of protection for labor while balancing the interests of capital.
