Trump, Trudeau Distance Themselves from Huawei Exec Arrest
0 comments
US officials said this week that president Donald Trump did not know of the plan to arrest Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou in Canada, in an attempt to prevent the incident from marring trade talks with Beijing.
Likewise, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau said in a statement to the media that the appropriate authorities took the decisions without any political involvement or interference, and he was only given a few days’ notice that the arrest was in the works.
The Chinese telecoms giant said that it has been provided little information of the charges against Meng and it was not aware of any wrongdoings by Meng.
