Tumblr Removes Suspected Russian “Troll” Accounts
Tumblr announced earlier this week that it had removed 84 accounts used by Russia’s Internet Research Agency for spreading misinformation in 2016.
The accounts were discovered through an investigation into IRA’s activities the social media site had conducted with the authorities. 13 Russians connected to the “troll farm” had already been indicted for voter manipulation by the US government last month. Other social media sites such as Twitter, Reddit, and Facebook had already taken steps to address the issue of Russian trolls on their platforms.
Tumblr also said that it would let other users know if they had interacted with the said troll accounts.
