Twitter CEO Sparks Controversy in India

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey recently caused a social media storm in India after he was seen holding up a poster that said “smash Brahminical patriarchy”, which refers to the highest caste in the country.

While the company had already apologized for the incident and clarified that the CEO’s sentiments does not reflect on the views of Twitter as a whole, a number of Indians still blasted Dorsey for “hate-mongering”. Former Infosys finance chief T.V. Mohandas Pai even likened the incident to anti-semitism and remarked that inciting hate against any community was wrong.

The poster was reportedly given to Dorsey by a low-caste Dalit woman who shared her experiences in a closed-door discussion hosted by Twitter.
