Twitter launches monetization, crypto features for creators

Social media personalities, particularly those which enjoy strong following on Twitter, are getting a new income stream with the launch of Tips on the platform. 

 

Twitter announced last September 23, 2021 that it will allow creators on its website the ability to monetize their content through tips from fans and followers.

 

The Tips feature will launch first on iOS and will be followed by a release on Android. Currently, the Tips feature fintech platforms such as Bandcamp, Cash App, Chipper, Patreon, Razorpay , Wealthsimple Cash, Venmo, GoFundMe, and PicPay. Apart from fintech platforms, Twitter Tips will also allow payments via cryptocurrency, particularly Bitcoin through Strike. 

 

“Digital currencies that encourage more people to participate in the economy and help people send each other money across borders and with as little friction as possible – help us get there,” the company said.
