UN Adopts India, Russia’s Data Security Resolutions

The United Nations General Assembly recently announced that it has adopted two resolutions on the International Information Security (IIS) System, one from India and one from Russia.

The UN said that its adoption of the ‘Developments in the field of information and telecommunications in the context of international security’ and ‘Countering the use of information and communications technologies for criminal purposes’ marks progress towards creating the world’s first code of conduct in the digital sphere.

The resolutions, which seek to prevent war and create a foundation for peaceful global interaction, was co-authored by more than 30 countries and gained the support of several more, with the exception of the United States and the European Union members.
